The way that rewards credit cards work is that you apply credit card purchases towards points. These points can be converted into a number of different bonuses for you, depending on the type of rewards credit card that you have. You can find a rewards credit card for both businesses and personal use. Once you apply credit card purchases towards the points, you will see how they rack up to give you the benefits that you want.

When you are looking for rewards credit cards, you should look for those that offer you the benefits that you are most likely to use. If you do not make use of the rewards that the credit card offers, chances are that you can get a better deal somewhere else when it comes to credit cards. She can probably open a checking account but she will need a minimum deposit to get one. It can range from $5.00 on up depending as to what bank she goes through. As for a credit card I doubt that she will be able to get one now because of the economy and the fact that she has no income/no credit score. I would suggest that she wait on the card until she is employed for at least 6 months to a year before she even applies for one. By waiting her chances of getting one will be better for her than what they are now. Keep in mind that there are people with excellent scores and the banks are having there credit limit cut to half of what it was or they are even closing the accounts out due the economy. She would be better off to wait on the card.

Orchard has high fees, but is certainly an option. Another option is going to where you bank (optimally, a credit union!!) & talking with a finance manager about getting a secured credit card. Make SURE it is one that can become unsecured at a future point in time & can grow with you.

You need a card if you want to build credit. Many people assume they will just pay in cash for everything, but that does not work when you are ready to own your own home or buy a new car. If you have not established credit yet you may be best off going for a secured card at first. This means that you will put down the amount of money your limit will be. Rule of thumb says that you should put down at least $300. If you have credit already you can probably get an unsecured card, however the credit industry is really tightening their belts right now. You can check out many different types of card, the APR, and the different rewards at creditcards.com. There will be a very simple form to fill out.
